Project Context

Mohana is a web app that helps women manage hormonal imbalances. It provides personalized action plans based on their symptoms and blood test results. In collaboration with another designer, a developer, and our CEO, I led the redesign of the action plan feature to better meet user needs.

Project Challenge

Project Challenge

After receiving their action plans, users in our beta cohort expressed frustration with its lack of conciseness. They found the advice buried, hard to act on, and disconnected from their symptoms and test results, delaying their ability to see value in the app. In response, we ranked feedback by frustration and impact, focusing our design efforts on the most meaningful changes to address key pain points and keep users engaged.

Design Approach

We wanted to clearly present a user's actions, while linking them to their specific symptoms and blood test results. My role involved redesigning the action cards and description screens to be concise, actionable, and directly tied to these metrics. I focused on improving the information hierarchy to help users quickly implement changes, while keeping educational content accessible for those seeking more details. We aimed to validate the redesign by surveying our beta cohort, with a goal of at least 50% finding the new design more impactful.

Usability prototype testing with our users showed they were all enthusiastic about the changes. These changes were well received by project stakeholders, giving users what they wanted without compromising the product’s scientific vision. They are currently being released with V2 of the app.
